Counsellors share evidence-based info about the safety or risk of drugs (prescription and over the counter), herbal products, chemicals, and disease during everyday exposures while pregnant/breastfeeding.

National Action Committee on the Status of Women
Action oriented organization. Focuses mainly on advocating for changes that will improve the status of women, women’s concerns and issues. Lobbies governments on behalf of over 700 organizations.
National African Integration & Families Association of Ontario (NAIFA)
Provides supportive programs for African Canadian, landed immigrants/refugees, and ex-offenders. Focus on youth and the justice system. Drop-in centre, youth universe, education attainment, pre-apprenticeship/apprenticeship and other employment referrals, positive parenting.
National Eating Disorder Information Centre
Focuses on awareness and prevention of eating disorders, food and weight preoccupation, and disordered eating. Provides info and support to those directly or indirectly affected by disordered eating and/or related concerns.
Native Women’s Resource Centre of Toronto
Women of Aboriginal ancestry, women with children of Aboriginal ancestry, and Aboriginal female youth. Food bank/programs, housing, crisis intervention, info and referral, literacy and basic skills program/academic upgrading to grade 10, urban orientation, advocacy, community outreach, and cultural programming (crafts, traditions, support groups, speakers, and fitness programs). Aboriginal Healthy Babies Healthy Children: home visits for families with children birth to 6 years, drop-in for mothers and children birth to 6 years, prenatal and postpartum support, early education support, links to community resources, and parenting class.
Neighbourhood Legal Services
Free legal services and assistance to low income individuals who live within our catchment area (Yonge St E to the Don Valley Pkwy, Bloor St S to the Toronto Islands) and qualify financially under Legal Aid Ontario’s guidelines.
Neighbourhood Resource Support
Nekenaan (at Anduhyaun)
Transitional housing service that provides safe, affordable, temporary housing to Aboriginal women with or without children. Unit designed to suit 1 to 5 people.
Nellie’s
Community support and outreach program. For single women 16 years + and women with children who are leaving situations of violence, poverty, and homelessness (trans-women positive facilities). Assistance for women in accessing/maintaining safe and affordable housing, developing community support networks, for women with mental health or substance abuse issues to live independently in the community. Info, referrals, community links (immigration and legal info), family advocacy, workshops, seminars, and support groups.
Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto
Settlement services, jobs/trainings (First Aid/CPR and Food Handling), English Language program. For women who are newcomers to Toronto.
North York General Hospital
North York Women’s Centre
No fees, but must be committed to attend and participate Reclaiming Yourself After Abuse: 10 week support group for women survivors of partner/relationship violence. Women’s empowerment groups, drop-in program, Workshops for lesbians & bisexual women.
North York Women’s Shelter
Women with or without children fleeing violence/abuse. Crisis intervention, group counselling, referrals, advocacy, community education, court accompaniment, safety planning, children’s program, transitional support and follow-up services.
Oasis Centre des Femmes (Oasis Center for Women)
Francophone for women 16+ years of age. Counselling, French services in courts, employment, community liaison, prevention and awareness, transitional support and housing support, immigrant and refugee women, and workshops.
Ontario Network of Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Treatment Centres
Provides list of hospital based treatment centres across Ontario for women, men, and children who have been sexually assaulted or experienced domestic violence.
Oshawa (Central East Division)
Our Place Peel Youth Shelter
Youth 16 to 21 years. Safe shelter, warm beds, hot meals at any time of the day or night, one on one counselling, assistance in finding steady employment and affordable housing, workshops and information.
